How to Select a Web-Based Project Management
Information System
Thursday, April 10, 2014
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this presentation
is to provide an understanding of how to choose
the right web-based program management system
for the specific requirements of a program and
organization. The ability to identify the right
system for the specific needs of a program
requires a broad range of experience with
state-of-the-art controls tools, as well as an
understanding of where off-the-shelf systems can
handle performance improvements through
customization and configuration. The
customization and configuration of systems and
tools is a critical phase that is often
overlooked in a program controls system
implementation. Sufficient time must be spent
analyzing the program and any owner specific
requirements to determine if any existing
controls systems fulfill those requirements. Any
identified areas for improvement must then be
addressed by customizing solutions alongside or
within the existing controls systems. The
outcome of this approach provides the owner and
the program with the maximum benefits of a
controls systems investment. The presentation
will include case studies based on local transit
clients and higher education clients on the east
coast.
